Installation

Installation is pretty straightforward. I bought a 2.5" Hitachi 60G HDD, pop it into the enclosure and slot it in. That is it, it is done. Put on the enclosure cover, close it and fasten the screws.

After the HDD is installed, hook up the USB cable. The PC will recognise it as a USB HDD. Partition it accordingly just like any HDD. Use FAT32 for the formatting. After formatting, you would need to create 3 folders in the root directory of the HDD. They are VIDEO, MUSIC & PHOTO. Files to be viewed should go under the respective subfolders.

The back panel of the enclosure. Here we see the VGA port, 5.1ch port, AV (for composite RCA cable), USB and DC. If you intend to use it as a standalone USB HDD, there is no need to plug in the power adaptor. The DC is needed if you wish to playback the media inside the device.

The remote control is to control the device. It has options for play, zoom, slow motion, audio, subtitle, OSD, PAL/NTSC, Volume control etc.
