AMD has another pleasant surprise for us. They showcased the 2600 Pro AGP edition. Well, the interesting part is that they paired it up with a low speed Sempron 3400+ running on a DFI NF3 mainboard.

The system was used to demonstrate the UVD power which offloads the processor in decoding of H.264 encoded Bluray movies. From the graph shown, it can be seen that the cpu utilisation is within 50%.

If you have some old hardware lying around and uses AGP and you would like to build a HTPC. Don't just throw away your old hardware, the AGP edition of the HD 2600Pro might just suit your needs to playback those new bluray or hddvd discs.
