The Test

We put the adaptor to the test. We tested the transfer rate within a 2 floor building with thick walls versus the traditional WIFI 802.11g which is detected as only 24Mbps.

In the test, we configure the two PCs with IP 192.168.1.1 (PC)and 192.168.1.2 (WIFI notebook). We timed the transfer of the ATI Catalyst 7.7 driver (37.5 MB) file. It took 30 seconds and it registered a transfer rate of 1.38MB/s which is approx 13.8Mbps.

Next, we connect the two machines (192.168.1.1) and (192.168.1.2), through the power adaptor. Again we transferred the shared file from PC to the notebook and noted the speed and time taken.

The file transfer took 21.2 secs and registered a 1.78MB/s or 17.8mbps transfer rate.

If we do a calculation, we saved 9 secs to transfer the same file. That is a save of 42%. There is a 30% increase in the speed of transfer.
