Once the BIOS settings are set correctly, boot into XP and you will see a new item "ATI HDMI Audio". Install the Catalyst driver and you will be able to set the display of up to 1920x1080. Install the HD audio driver (Realtek) and ATI HDMI driver.

In order for audio to be channeled out from DVI thru the HDMI adaptor to your HDTV, you have to select Realtek HDA HDMI Out as device device.

You can set the volume level on the Realtek HDA HDMI OUT

You will also see the option available in Realtek audio manager

Once all these are done, you will now be able to enjoy your HD movies with sound from the speakers on your HDTV.

Conclusion

It really caught me by surprise that this works. The new BIOS has open up the audio portion of the chipset to enable audio to be channeled out from the on board DVI port. This is something that i would not have expected.

The beauty of this is that, it works with any conventional DVI-HDMI converter. You do no need to purchase a special dongle for this purpose.

If you require the BIOS, please request it in our forum at http://my.ocworkbench.com/bbs under the general mainboard section.
