ATI Radeon HD 4850 running in CrossFire with Phenom II X4 940

Lost Planet Score

The AMD Phenom II X4 940 (3GHz = 200x15) runs on DFI 790FX board with 2 pieces of AMD Radeon HD 4850 paired up to run CrossFire. Below is the score line.

Lost Planet scored Snow 50/Cave 69 for this benchmark. It is surprising that the QX9770 scored Snow 93/Cave 78 in this test while the Core i7 system scored Snow 51/Cave 70 in this test. Could it be because the graphics driver aren't optimised for Core i7 and Phenom II X4 ?

Call Of Juarez

In this test, the system scored 62.6fps in CrossFire. The Intel QX9770 System compared scored 67.6 fps while the Intel Core i7 system scored 68.4 fps. The difference is around 8%

Crysis

In Crysis Demo benchmark the system scored 35.18 fps in CrossFire. As for Core i7 system, it scored 45.64 fps while the QX9770 system scored 44.92 fps. The difference is around 27%.

The difference is around 10 fps.

From the results, we can see that the benchmarks differ by a lot from benchmark to benchmark. We can see that the difference in using the same pair of graphics card running CrossFire does have an impact on the scoreline and it is more apparent than using a single card. It is slower than the Intel QX9770 / Core i7 system by around 3 to 27% depending on benchmarks. No matter what, if you don't require the speed of a high end Intel system, the dollar savings can be quite substantial. Furthermore, future drivers will also improve the performance.
