Installing the Aztech HW550 3G WiFi-N Mobile Broadband Router
Bluetooth 26 Aug 2009

Introduction

Installation

Installation is pretty straightforward. In our case, we used the Huawei E960 which happens to function as a modem and a router by itself. In this case, we used it in the modem mode by plugging the USB cable to the back of the HW550 USB port. As the Huawei E960 is USB powered by the Aztech HW550-3G, the Huawei E960 do not need any external power supply.

As the Aztech HW550-3G comes with a DHCP server, the PC/Notebook that you attached via ethernet cable will be assigned an IP address. To configure the HW550-3G, just type http://192.168.2.1 on your favourite web browser and the following page will be shown.

You will be greeted with a screen below. You have 5 options - advance mode, reboot, Home, Wizard or Quick Setup.

Under quick setup, you can set the time zone, the connection type (3G or WAN). The firmware already has a list of commonly available APNs for each country, just pick and choose the correct one, in this case, Singapore-M1-Sunsurf.

In Network setup, this settings are factory defaults which you can change, including the DHCP range of IPs, router IP addr, DNS server, uPNP enabled etc.

Under Internet you can configure the WAN conenction parameter including the APN, Dial up number etc.

In Wireless, you can configure the SSID name, Wireless mode, the channel etc.
