Introduction

We have reviewed a couple of AMD 785G boards before. There were different configurations ranging from ATX, mATX to DDR2 or DDR3 support.

Today, we take a look at an entry level 785G board from BIOSTAR. The BIOSTAR TA785GE 128 adopts a mATX board design and supports DDR2 memory.

The Biostar TA785GE 128M supports the Socket AM3 processors AMD Phenom II X4 / Phenom II X3 / Phenom II X2 processor, latest AMD Phenom X4 , X3 / Athlon /Sempron processors of up to TDP 125W. It is powered by the AMD 785G+SB710 with integrated graphics Radeon HD 4200 which can decode 1080p HD hardware acceleration playback using by an optional DVI to HDMI adapter. It supports 4 DIMMs of DDR2-1200/1066 of memory. The graphics capability can be enhanced with the on Board 128MB DDR2 Side-Port memory. It can be further upgraded using the ATI Hybrid Graphics Support.

The Biostar TA785GE 128M supports BIOSTAR G.P.U (Green Power Utility). It will enhance energy efficiency by disabling extra phases while CPU on light loading. It integrated a friendly GUI to monitor what's your CPU resourcing, response and optimized the power saving on your system. Such as Heavy 3D Gaming, Internet or MSN charting, G.P.U will always arrange the best power efficiency in your system.

There is also BIO-Flasher which makes it easy to update BIOS from USB flash disk before entering OS. Another feature is BIO-ReLife Technology let you to resume crushed BIOS data from a USB flash Pen Driver that put the new BIOS file. This considerate BIOS utility can restore your system and far from the BIOS Crush situation.

For overclockers, Biostar offered 3 kind of overclocking settings (V6/V8/V12) that provided good, better, best O.C setting which turned in Biostar Labs. The motherboard features the Biostar T series Motherboards that allows users to conveniently load our preset BIOS settings.
These BIOS settings giving users freedom to enjoy overclocking with simple instruction.

Alternatively, you can use Tseries OC Utility, the most convenient Windows based system performance enhancement and manageability utility. It’s 4 separated utility which included Overclocking , BIOS Update and H/W Monitoring . PC health for monitoring system status.

On board are also power and reset switches, so no more shorting pins on board. There is also a DEBUG led on board which shows the error code.
