Introduction

Today, we attended a press briefing of Microsoft Office 2010. In the briefing we were shown how Microsoft Office 2010 make life simpler for the information worker, who works with data, presentation, documentation everyday.

Imagine having a hundred emails daily. It is a stressful job to clear the emails where there are junk, repetitions etc when and colleagues or friends reply to emails and it snowballs if it is a reply to a distribution list in CC:

Office email usually revolves around discussion threads where colleagues discuss about the same subject by adding in a reply etc. In Office 2010, with the click of a button, they can be reorganised into a conversation. It combines those emails about a particular thread will be bundled into one conversation. A typical 100 mails could be reduced to mere 5 conversations. You can now easily get a grasp of what is the main topic of discussion and what is the latest development.

Repeated mails is another headache for information workers. You have to skim through the mail to look for the important highlight. Using CLEAN UP CONVERSATION. Out of the 10 mails, the system will automatically reduce to 1 mail automatically which has the all the information. If there are 2 mails out of 10 are different, the 2 different emails will be available after clean up conversation is used.

Some users love to mass mail using Carbon copy, Outlook 2010 has a ignore thread button. All the previous mail and subsequent mail that comes to that thread will goes to the deleted threads. It works like a dynamic filter that will delete the threads in the conversation that you don't want to read.
