ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 ATi Xpress 1600 (RD480+SB600) Mainboard Review Benchmarks 2/8
Bluetooth 1 Oct 2006

Benchmarks

In this test, we measured the CLK used by the boards. Both boards are set to run in SPD mode of the modules which is rated CAS 5, 5-5-15, 2T. The ECS KA3 MVP Extreme is based on the ATi RD580 chipset while the ASUS M2N32-SLI is based on NVidia's 590 SLI chipset.  The ASRock AM2V890-VSTA and ALIVESATA2-GLAN are based on the VIA K8T890 CF stepping. The ASRock ALiveXFire-eSATA2 runs at 199.7MHz instead of the 200.00MHz.

In the test, all turbo options available on the boards are turned off for fair comparison. This includes Turbo mode and AM2 Boost. AM2 boost if turned on will result in a 2MHz jump to 202.x MHz for CPU CLK.

With that in mind, we take a look at the memory benchmark scores using Sandra 2007. As the memory controller is built within the CPU, the differences aren't that great. If you look at the scores and consider the lower clk speed, it seems that the the memory bandwidth test shows a very high result of the chipset pair with a score of 7570/7612.
