Nokia announces 5 new phones today at its Nokia Connection 2006 event held at Suntec City, Singapore. The 5 new phones targets the mid range market and there are 2 GSM, 1 WCDMA and 2 CDMA phones.

The Nokia 6151 supports WCDMA. The camera phone comes with 1.3 mpixel camera and comes with 3G functions like video streaming. It would just be the best entry level 3G phone that can be offered to new subscribers to 3G plans.

The Nokia 6080 is a GSM phone that looks like a Vertu but at probably 50% of the price. If you are going for a stylish phone, 6080 is something you might not want to miss.

Another GSM phone is the Nokia 1110i. Don't be surprised by this black & white entry level phone. This phone targets a mass market and has an impressive alarm clock that can wake you up and speak to you in different languages.

Two other phones on the show are Nokia 6275, a CDMA phone. it comes with a 2mpixel camera. Nokia 2875 is another CDMA phone which provides a 1.3mpixel camera and multimedia functions.

Nokia also announce a new HSPDA network device known as the Nokia Pico WCDMA base station. This serves to improve the reception of HSPDA signals within buildings.

Nokia and MobileOne (M1) demonstrated live mobile data connection supporting 3.6 Mbps at Nokia Connection in Singapore. With 3.6 Mbps, more and faster data services can be delivered over-the-air as it roughly doubles the speed of what can be achieved with today's maximum HSDPA data rate. In practice, the download time of a typical music file will be less than 10 seconds.

At the show, we also saw the demonstration of DVB-H on N92 streaming Live ChannelNewsAsia.
